Bay Springs Lake and the Divide Cut Section of the Tenn-Tom Waterway! Bay Springs Lake, the only deep-water lake on the waterway, contains 6,700 acres and has 133 miles of shoreline.
The Lake is connected to the Yellow Creek embayment of the
Tennessee River by a 25-mile long canal that was dug between the
hills that separate the Tennessee and Tombigbee River Basins.
Bay Springs Lake provides a variety of recreational
opportunities including fishing, boating, swimming and water skiing.

Spotted Bass and Largemouth have still been coming on suspending jerkbaits on secondary points over the past weekend, however, with the water hitting 60 degrees, look for spawning activity to start as fish move up. Look for wooded pockets and throw Bass Pro shop Stick-o's or sinko type baits weightless looking for cruising bass. An EXCELLENT pair of polarized sunglasses, like the Browning Eyewear ones available online at Bass Pro Shops or at Browningeyewear.com will really show the bass. I use the amber lens with the sandy bottom and can really see the fish deeper than any other guys I fish with wearing other products. This is critical to catching these fish. Also, a small craw worm or light weight lizard or shakey head may catch these fish on the bed, and you just have to have several items rigged to fish when you find them to see what she wants. Also, on the lower end of the lake where the water is dirtier, you can fish stumps in shallow areas around ditches with a spinnerbait or a chartreuse or white bandit 100 series crankbait, bumping right around the stumps to trigger reaction bites. A person can fish baysprings like 2 lakes, with one end being dirtier toward the waterway and the area toward the dam being super clear.
The key on both lakes is to be open minded and try many different patterns until you hit the fish. They are biting very well and these are 2 of the best lakes in the southeast right now.
